The MAZAK is a C-Frame machine with electrics mounted in boxes left & right of column, and in front.
The head carriage contains the Z axis, spindle and Tool Changer. The box on top front center is a
terminal strip with all the connections for this carriage.
|
The front view begins with the operator panel. This box has it's door open here. The door has the estop, Z axis jog and handwheel. Inside are
4 bolts that allow this panel to be swung away.

|
Removing the 4 bolts and swinging the operator panel away revela much of the tool changer mechanisms.

The head carriage wiring goes thru a terminal strip box above the operator panel.
The top row connects to devices and sensors on the head. the bottom row communicates with the control.

|
The head carriage is massive. It's a huge block containing the Z axis, spindle, and tool changer.
All these devices connect to the top terminal strip. The control passes thru a single jacketed cable.
