Steel

Steel melts at over 3000 F, making it impossible to melt with carbon-based fuels at atmospheric pressures without oxygen enrichment. For this reason, steel is usually melted in an electric or arc furnace.
Verily, books could be written about steel. I will try to keep it under a few pages.
